Happiness doesn’t grow on trees, but it does come in an £18 black bottle. Thats for sure.
It’s no secret I’m a massive lover of the tan in a bottle. It’s rare you’ll ever see me without it on – and if you do, I’ll give you some advice; stay away, I’m probably mardy.
Over the years I’ve had my fair share of fake tan mishaps – think Oompa Loompa. Not a good look, for anyone. So when Bondi Sands got in contact and asked if I would like to try out their 1 hour express tanning foam, it was a no brainer really. Of course the answer was going to be yes!
Bondi Sands have been a tanning brand that I have used for years now, and can always count on them to turn me into the bronzed goddess I always dream of being.
The Bondi Sands 1 hour express tan is pretty self explanatory. Chuck it on and within an hour you’ve got the same glow that a normal fake tan would give you, but within a fraction of the time! Perfect for those impromptu nights out! (This makes it sound like I go on many spontaneous nights out, I don’t. I need at leas 3 months notice if I’m going to be leaving the flat x)
Before we crack on into the actual review – as I know that’s probably what you’re here for. You should know that I’m extremely pale naturally. I’m talking Caspar The Ghost vibes. When it comes to fake tan, my motto is, the darker the better (although I think my mum may disagree..). I tend to automatically reach for foams or mouses over sprays and mists as I find them easier to apply and a lot more reliable and most importantly the potential of streaks are less likely.
So does the 1 hour express tan really work and is it worth the hype, I hear you ask?
I can confirm, yes. This stuff works absolute miracles. I’ve finally found a product that doesn’t leave me with stained bed sheets and give me the ‘I’ve spent a week in the Maldives look’ all within the hour. What a time to be alive!
Like mentioned previously, I’ve used Bondi Sands for a good few years now, so I had high hopes for this product. Normally reaching for their ‘dark tanning foam’ – I’m yet to be ballsy enough to try out their ultra-dark tan, but maybe next time! I was hoping that this tan would allow me to achieve the same colour as the dark foam, with a much shorter waiting game. This took a few times to master, but I got there in the end.
So, my first attempt I left the tan on for exactly one hour – to see whether I could get the exact colour I wanted. Of course after leaving the tan on for one hour I did have some colour to me, I won’t deny that. However, instead of giving me the darker tan I was hoping for, I would say it gave me the same sort of colour that a light/medium tan would. Perfect if you’re looking for a lighter tan. That or you’re blessed with naturally darker skin, in which case, leaving the product on for just an hour will work perfectly for you.
Second attempt? I left it on for 2 hours. Now, on the bottle, it does say that a darker tan can be achieved when left on for 2-3 hours. They weren’t lying when they said this! Attempt number two left me with that nice dark tan I always look for. I was SO stoked that I could achieve such a glow in such a short amount of time!
Not only does this product leave me with pristine bed sheets for the first time in 5 years. But it means I can finish work, tan and shower all before my boyfriend finishes work – so he can’t complain about me smelling of biscuits! It’s a win win situation really.
This tan lasted on my skin for about the same amount of time as most regular tans would, around 4-5 days. The application process was much like their normal tanning foams; however because this formula is a mouse, it is a lot thicker and you do have to work a lot quicker to spread into the skin.
Overall this tan is an absolute game changer. Perfect for us lazy girls who really can’t be arsed with the lengthy tanning process we normally have to go through. It gives me that sun kissed glow in less than 2 hours, what’s not to love?!
What are your go to tanning products? Think I will always swear by Bondi!
All my love,
