Christmas Day 2018

Well thats a wrap on Christmas 2018 (pardon the pun). And what an amazing day it was too.

Christmas Day is easily my favourite day of the year – mainly because it’s very rare that my family and I are all in the same room together. Something that has got more and more unfrequent as we’ve all grown up – understandable when we’re all leading such busy lives.

However, Christmas for me is all about the family time (and cheese). After months of planning, it was all over in the blink of an eye. I ended the day a little bit emotional (the excessive gin consumption probably contributed to this), just because of how thankful I am to have such a wonderful family. It was one of those things that just reminded me that even whenever I’m feeling low I have such a solid base around me – basically got over emotional because I realised that I’m not alone.

My day began at 5AM, not because my brothers woke me up, nope, because I had to go to work. I work in a pub, so it was inevitable that I was going to get a shift on Christmas Day. It was only a morning shift though – so come 12 o’clock the Prosecco had been cracked open and the party had started.

Unfortunately I missed out on opening my presents with my family as I was at work. Which meant opening them on my own with Mum spectating of course. We all know that the day isn’t about what you receive, however Santa was very good to me this year. I was gifted with some really thoughtful gifts – not to mention a dreamy pair of white boots that I had had my eye on for months now.

I can imagine cooking Christmas Dinner is a hard task, I say imagine because lets face it I’m never going to be trusted with that responsibility, However my Dad did an absolutely awesome job of it (as usual), even more so impressive as it was a dinner for 11 people, surely that can’t be easy! We all enjoyed though, and after copious amounts of roasties, turkey and stuffing, I was quite literally, a pig in a blanket, and in desperate need of a nap.

This Christmas was slightly different to any other Christmas my family have done before as we had the family round my house for dinner, but then post nap we all headed over to my aunts, where we had a Christmas get together with lots of friends, family and more gin. Filled with lots of laughs, silly games and happy memories. All in all Christmas this year has been one of my favourites, getting to spend it with all the people that mean most to me and I wouldn’t have changed it for the world.

How did you spend your Christmas?

All my love,

Han xx
