City Break Essentials

You can’t beat a good old city break. Sometimes a quick whistle stop tour of a cute little city is exactly what you need to take some time out and relax. While I’m all for hot luxurious holidays, I find short city breaks to be just as fun, I love trying to cram in seeing as much of the city as possible in the time that you’re there for. One thing that I do struggle with though, is what to pack. It’s much easier when you’re going to an all inclusive poolside holiday, I mean you just throw a few bikinis into your suitcase and you’re done, right? But when it comes to city breaks, with unpredictable weather and an array of different planned activities, where do you start? I’ve complied a list of must have items for city breaks, which will hopefully help you out if you have the same struggle as me when the dreaded packing chore looms.

Comfy Shoes

Now these are an absolute must. I can’t think of anything worse than wondering around a city all day, desperately trying to enjoy yourself, but not being able to because of un-comfy shoes. I understand we all want to dress to impress, but this can be done in a comfortable way too. I personally swear by my Doc Martens (I have 3 pairs, and counting), and my Vans. I often find that taking both allows me to chop and change depending on my outfit, as they are both so versatile. They are also incredibly stylish, so I can walk the streets knowing that my outfit looks put together and trendy.

Lightweight Jacket

Or, something slightly heavier if you’re on a city break in the UK. A lightweight jacket is always essential, something that you can quickly pop on when it starts to get a bit chilly in the evening, but something small enough to fit into your bag during the day. I find a denim jacket, or satin bomber jacket are designed to fit this job perfectly.

I love my photography. Wherever I go I will always have a camera on me whether it be my DSLR, Cyber-Shot, or just my phone. I’m someone who loves to have pictures of all the places I’ve visited, and memories I’ve made. It’s such an amazing world that we live in. We’re part of a technological generation, meaning that taking and sharing these memories is done at such ease; which is precisely why a camera is a must have. I also love being able to share my experiences over social media with my friends and family, which is so effortlessly done now.

Although you want to be comfy and not too overdressed when it comes to city breaks, I always like to have a couple of accessories with me that I can put with an outfit to make it look that little bit more chic. Sunglasses are an obvious one; I have so many pairs I always struggle to pick just one pair to take with me. Also my trusty Daniel Wellington watch. I’m a firm believer that you shouldn’t live your life by times and schedules, but having a watch comes in handy when you have various different activities planned for the day.

Small Backpack

The last thing you want to be doing when you have a busy day planned, is to be traipsing a heavy handbag around with you, full of a million and one things you probably won’t even use. Which is precisely why I suggest you invest in a small backpack, they’re perfect to chuck beauty essentials in, alongside your camera and any tour guides that you may accumulate, also with it being small, it limits the amount you take with you, so you really do take just the essentials. Plus they’re super trendy, I have a little black leather one from New Look, and I love it, it’s the perfect size, and it goes with every outfit.

Hope you have enjoyed reading through my must have city break essentials. On this post I have partnered up with Lola Rose, and here is their guide to  holiday accessories. If you also have the chance, make sure you check out their website for some lovely bits of jewellery.
